padel

It’s no surprise that padel is the fastest growing sport in the world. Fast and fun, with a lower barrier to entry than tennis, padel has proved a huge hit at Esher Tennis & Padel since our courts opened in May 2021.

Best described as a hybrid of tennis and squash, padel is most commonly played in doubles. The courts are surrounded by walls of glass and metal mesh. The rules and scoring are broadly the same as for tennis; serving is underarm and the walls are used as part of the game with the ball allowed to bounce off them.

Padel is easy to pick up but difficult to master. If you haven’t tried it yet, we would strongly suggest you do!

  • Membership

We want everyone to discover what a great game padel is, so our membership fees are inclusive of floodlight use and there are no extra court fees.

  • Coaching

Padel is an easy game to enjoy but a tricky one to master so we offer coaching for beginners, intermediates and advanced players alike.

  • Courts

We have two floodlit all-weather padel courts which were opened in May 2021.

  • Mix-In

We have an open level adults mix-in on Sunday afternoon 2pm-4pm. Just bring your bat and play with whoever else is there.

  • Teams

We have mens and ladies teams entered into iPadel and LTA leagues.

  • Ladder

Find a partner and test yourselves against other pairs at the club by joining our padel ladder.

“Padel is really fun and social, it’s probably the most inclusive sport I’ve come across. Anyone can pick up a bat and within a short space of time get a really good game in.”

FAQs

  • I'm thinking about joining, can I come to the club for a visit or a trial?

Absolutely. We encourage potential members to visit the club before deciding whether to join. Please contact us at membership@eshertennis.co.uk and we’ll be very happy to arrange a time for you to come and visit the club.

  • How do I book a court?

Court bookings are handled by the LTA’s ClubSpark system which you can access by clicking ‘Court Booking’ at the top of this website.

  • I don't know any other members. HOw do I arrange a game?

We pride ourselves on being a friendly, welcoming club so we’re confident you’ll soon get to know other members. Most matches are arranged via WhatsApp. The club has created groups based on ability to try and ensure everyone gets a good game. There are also groups for mixed abilities. Please speak to a member of the coaching team to get added to the appropriate groups.

  • I don't have my own bat. Can I borrow one?

No problem, the club has a small selection of padel bats you can use. We would encourage members to purchase their own however.

  • I'd love to have some lessons. How do I do that?

Have a look at the coaching section of the website to see our available courses. If you have any questions, speak to a member of our coaching team and they’ll be happy to recommend the right sessions for you.

  • How much does it cost to use the floodlights?

Absolutely nothing. Use of the floodlights is included in your membership fee. The lights can be turned on at the entrance to each padel court.

  • Can I bring a guest to the club?

You are very welcome to bring a guest to play at the club. The same guest can play 3 times a season (6 times a year). There is a small charge of £10 per guest. Details of how to pay are in the members area and included in the members welcome pack.
